Project Scope
CBC Group delivered the staged refurbishment of 60 accommodation rooms at a mining accommodation village in Middlemount, Queensland, working within a fully operational live environment.
The program covered wall repairs and internal painting, new cabinetry and wardrobes, vanity replacements and complete ensuite upgrades, waterproofing and wet-wall linings, vinyl flooring, window furnishings, and lighting and electrical improvements, with furniture carefully removed, stored and reinstated as each stage progressed. Every room was returned in a clean, fully operational and ready-to-occupy condition, with quality inspections, electrical certification and waterproofing compliance documentation completed before each handover.

Challenges and Outcomes
Delivering 60 room refurbishments inside a live accommodation village was the central challenge of this project. With adjacent rooms remaining occupied throughout, CBC Group coordinated building, cabinetry, plumbing, waterproofing, flooring, electrical and painting trades across repetitive, staged work fronts, managing room availability in controlled batches and working within restricted timeframes for high-noise activities. Latent conditions identified after demolition were addressed alongside coordinated material procurement and deliveries to a regional Queensland location, with consistent finishes maintained and defect rectification and compliance documentation completed before each room returned to service.
The client valued CBC Group's ability to manage the refurbishment safely within a live village environment, maintain clear communication and deliver consistently finished rooms ready for immediate occupation. The staged delivery approach, responsive management of on-site issues and comprehensive handover documentation gave the client confidence throughout the program, demonstrating CBC Group's ability to run large-scale, repetitive refurbishment works efficiently while maintaining safety, quality and program control.
