Project Scope
This project involved the complete design and construction of a new five-bedroom, two-bathroom, fully accessible home tailored to meet Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) standards. The home was developed to provide a modern, safe, and supportive environment that enables people with disability to live independently. In addition to the internal living spaces, the build included a curated outdoor area that complemented the home’s contemporary design while enhancing accessibility and livability.
The scope encompassed every phase of project delivery—from initial site assessment and detailed planning through to construction, landscaping, and long-term facility maintenance. Compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and “Fully Accessible” SDA design standards was achieved through close collaboration with the certifier, SDA assessor, client, and trades.
Challenges and Outcomes
The project required strict adherence to National Construction Code (NCC) and “Fully Accessible” SDA standards, demanding detailed coordination between the certifier, SDA assessor, client, and multiple trades. Ensuring accessibility features were integrated without compromising the home’s modern design added complexity. The project was delivered on time and fully compliant with SDA and NCC requirements. The result is a safe, modern, and accessible five-bedroom home that supports independent living for people with disability. Ongoing facilities maintenance was successfully implemented, ensuring long-term functionality, compliance, and resident safety. Clear, regular communication with stakeholders contributed to a smooth and successful delivery.
