CBC Flying High with Airservices Australia

CBC has been awarded a significant Airservices Australia contract for the provision of trade services, scheduled maintenance services and minor works across Airservices Australia’s network of over 600 buildings. Spread over 250 locations throughout Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia, as well as several external territories, including Christmas Island, Cocos Island and Norfolk Island, these facilities provide a critical service of the highest magnitude.

Airservices Australia is Australia’s air navigation service provider. It exists to provide safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally-responsible air navigation and aviation rescue firefighting services to the aviation industry. It is a government-owned organisation, formed in July 1995 when the Civil Aviation Authority was split into two separate government bodies: Airservices Australia and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

Today Airservices Australia manages 11 per cent of the world’s airspace where there are more than four million aircraft movements carrying more than 156 million passengers annually.
To ensure its facilities are compliant, safe and in optimum condition, Airservices Australia ideally wanted to move from multiple maintenance contractors that were offering either specific skills or a geographic focus to a single service provider like CBC for its vast maintenance, construction and demolition requirements. The key outcomes Airservices Australia were looking for from a single supplier included a reduction in the number of contractors currently utilised, which in turn would offer improved consistency and quality of service for the scheduled tasks. Most critical though was to ensure consistent compliance with State and National codes, standards and regulations.

Demonstrating CBC’s outstanding track record managing the complex facilities and requirements of Sydney International and Domestic airports and with its ability to provide all necessary skills across all Airservices Australia locations, CBC Facilities Maintenance was chosen as the sole supplier.

CBC will provide scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance services to Air Services’ critical network of sites around Australia. These services include:

Electrical – testing and tagging of portable electrical equipment and power leads, Residual Current Device (RCD) testing, lightning conductor protection and earthing, electrical board thermal imaging, inspection of lighting systems.
Roof Safety Systems – inspection of surface mounted anchors and static lines, inspection of fixed ladders.
Hydraulics and plumbing – trade waste equipment maintenance, thermostatic mixing valves, backflow prevention, pumps and sewage.
Minor works – Asbestos and demolition works,
Alterations, refurbishment and repairs of buildings and structures
Pest control services

“Our ongoing success has been driven from our approach of taking on whatever the customer requires. Whilst we have grown dramatically over the past decade, we still have that family business mentality which is appealing to our large corporate clients. We just do whatever it takes to solve a problem. Most importantly, that attitude exists whether you’re dealing with the owner, a young apprentice or any of our contractors,” explains Erm Morelli.
